With high support from the local community, Međimurje county and the Government of Croatia with all relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Economy, the investor was able to apply the project to the competition the European Commission in the NER300 program in 2013 for the award for innovative technological solutions in the production of energy from renewable sources and CCS in the category of innovative geothermal power plants.

In 2014 (08/07/2014) the European Commission published the results and the project of AAT Geothermae is the only project from Croatia that was rewarded with an award of 14.7 million EUR.
